How It All Started

In 1999 we opened our very first retail store on Abbeygate Street in Galway City. 'Origin' streetwear stocked leading Brands like Stussy, Zoo York, Carhartt, Pash, Miss Sixty, Killah, Lo-Fli, Road, Energie. We later in 2005 opened Galway's first core Skate Shop, 'Gravity' on Cross Street, where we grew a tribe following of board sports enthusiasts from far and wide. We were always very fortunate to have a loyal, dedicated and supportive local community of friends and followers. The people, 'you' our customers, the store teams, our neighbouring business community is what made it all worthwhile. The positive energy we shared with our customers was always second to none. If you were doing a job you loved, then you'd never work a day in your life. That's what it was like for us. For 20+ years, We will be forever grateful for the people we met, the relationships and friendships developed... Thank you all for having been part of our journey, we wouldn't have changed a thing. 

March 2020, while we were on the cusp of releasing 'the VAULT Galway', mother nature had a different plan, and the Global Pandemic arrived to shake up physical retail for ever more..... It's only in the years since, as we meet our former customers, friends and hear their stories, that we've realised.. Retail, Physical Retail that is, was never about a transaction or a sale... Yes it was part of it of course... But it was more than that, it was about community, it was about conversations, it was about the opportunity for human connection and to rub shoulders with folks from other walks of life you wouldn't ordinarily bump in to. To experience different perspectives, in a creative melting pot environment... The one question that everyone always asks, "Do you miss it?", not the pressure, the stress at times, but the people , yes, absolutely the people... & the risk and challenge to be creative and take a chance on something, only to see and hear peoples reactions to some newly  discovered curated collection, a brand or trend.... some crazy new t-shirt or deck graphic. So we're launching the '15th Tribe', to share stories of inspiration and creativity, and to re-connect with the creative diaspora who believe in those same positive values we strived to protect once before.... We have more to do, come join us as we start a new chapter...
